Only If

Only If

A Poem by PoeT4994

Place a flag in my body the day I die and I will be yours.

Grab the rungs in my ribs,

uplift,

and watch my skin drip…

Back to the pavement I will go.

Grab my hair and pull until you see the tree roots contort out…

By this point you’ll find I’ve already been decaying back into the earth.

Let my spine breathe itself out from in-between my lungs and crack it,

when it does,

against the wall.

Watch the ceilings shatter from my back.

Grab the dead skin and rip a hallelujah from my lips.

I’ll tell you how we die if you show me how to kiss.
