"She Said, He Said"

"She Said, He Said"

A Poem by PoeT4994
"

This actually is mostly made up of a conversations between me and my ex, Erica. Part of it is a poem, but most of it is just a conversation we were having, I wrote this more for her than anything.

"
She says she wants to know
who I am because she forgot,
through broken lips I say I'll tell
her again one day if her hugs
will listen to the melody in my bones.

She says she needs time,
I tell her I'll wait;
a smile on my face, I'll wait.
She smiles,
I say I love her.
She says don't say that,
we're not together anymore,
I brush it off because I know
she'll soon ask why I stopped
saying I love you;
I haven't.
I've just been whispering it in-between
the lines of my soft tone.

She says this whole time
she's loved me,
I don't say anything;
I just smile.
She says she does want me,
entrapped something like a genie,
just for her,
I retort with if you bring the
smoke and mirrors, I'll bring the
over-sized bottle.

I'll always be here.
She wants to here it,
I want to say it,
we both just smile.
She says one day it'll be us again,
as more than friends with a past.
I say take your time in
preparing for that,
all I needed to know was that I
still held a place in your heart.

So now we're waiting at a bus stop,
future in our pockets,
bright days in our smirks.
Waiting to get out of this moment
and move to the next.
I haven't smiled in more than a month.
And I know she's been hurting too.
But for the first time,
I've had a happy day.
I think I'll do that more often,
have a happy day.
Because my reason to,
has finally came back.

Interesting poem hon! A clever write, you have a lot of talent:)
To take disparate elements and fuse them together is good work!
