Rising Tide (The Five, part 2)

Rising Tide (The Five, part 2)

A Poem by Pocko
"

This was written by a friend of mine and is the second part to "Bonds Tied"

"

He was always considered the "good" guy.
They considered him a saint not capable of wrong doing.
There were four who truly knew him.
They still accepted him for who he was.
He would be the one most betrayed, the martyr.

He is one of five.
He is the Jujigun.
He is the trusted one among peers.
He is the shinrai no hito.
He is now only a soul.

He was the hated genius.
He became a true friend to the crusader.
He always stood for his ideas.
He always played the guardian.
He stayed true to who he was; until the end.

He is one of five.
He is the Nagaremono.
He is the hated one among peers.
He is the kanshisha.
He is now only a soul.

He was the feared artist.
He was a friend by accident.
He was never an out-spoken person.
He was always there when you needed him.
He would be a hero as his life waned to an end.

He is one of five.
He is the Horosha.
He is the feared one among peers.
He is the shin'yo dekiru no hito.
He is now only a soul.

She was the restless comic.
She was first befriended by the crusader.
She was the most outspoken of the five.
She could always bring a smile.
She would be the most torn.

She is one of five.
She is the Ochitsukanai.
She is the revered one among peers.
She is the tanoshii no hito.
She is now only a soul.

She was the silent lamb, or so they thought.
She was the oldest friend of the crusader.
She was the most withdrawn of the five.
She was the most distant.
She now holds the burden of the five.

She was one of the five.
She is the Uragiru no Hito.
She is the unknown.
She is the hikisagaru no hito
She is the tormented soul.

Story

The crusader was satisfied.
His job was finally done.
He helped bridge the gap between the two groups.
He no longer had to choose sides.
Three became five.

There were problems, of course,
Though none were too big to overcome.
The drifter and silent one constantly argued.
The crusader and wonderer became the peacemakers.
The restless one always made the others smile.

Years past, things changed.
Friends came and went but the five stayed strong.
Through two years of high school they stood together.
They believed nothing could permanently separate them.
They were one; they were five.

But something happened at the end of their sophomore year.
The restless one and the silent one had a fight.
The other three watched, helpless to stop it.
The following summer was difficult for them all.
The first cut had formed in the five.

The crusader worried about the next school year.
He worried that the fight would continue on.
But his worries were relieved when the fight ended the first week of school.
The two friends made up.
The five were one again, or so they thought.

The silent one was more distant than ever.
Her work consumed her life.
Her grades began to slip and she was always tired.
The other four tried to reason with her but she insisted that she keep the job.
So the other four watched as their friend grew weaker.

As the silent one continued work, the stress became stronger.
School grew to be tougher.
Her body became tried.
Her mind started to diminish.
Her soul slowly started to weaken.

She had to get away.
She could not remain at that school.
A hidden scare bore a heavy load.
She had to escape the pain.
The silent one began to disappear.

She became more distant to five.
They could not talk her out of leaving.
Her mind was made up.
She left the five, and disappeared.
She slowly became mumei no hito, seemingly a nobody.

The five became four.
Three of the four wanted the silent one back.
One had no real care to see her again.
Two tried to keep contact.
One secretly longed to hear from her.

About this time something occurred in the drifter’s life.
He met someone who would become very dear to him.
He met the one he had been searching for.
The person he could love and would love him in return.
She would become the Koibito.

She became good friends to the other three.
She Always stood with the drifter.
Nothing could separate them.
She would not replace, but would fill an old hole.
A new five was born.

The rest of the school year passed.
The five stood through what few challenges came,
Becoming stronger with every passing wave.
Keeping close throughout summer, they accepted the trials of the coming year.
But none of them was ready for what lied head.....
