Icy Fate

Icy Fate

A Poem by Pleiades

Icy Fate

Caught in a tundra of stagnation,

We falter in our own steps, crashing.

Breaking through the ice, melting into oblivion,

For the snow channels deep, menacing, resilient.

For every step is a choice, cautious, deliberate,

As the snow may break, compromising our stance

Every moment, every step,

Fate rests contently in our hands.

Choice resonates through our core

And yet we continuously move, change weight,

For experience is a powerful motivation,

To test the odds, to become one with our choice.

Perhaps this step will be my last,

And the ice will shatter my dreams of continuity,

As I begin on a descent, into the darkness, blackness,

Of the pristine white surrounding me, enveloping me.

I don’t know from where I came, nor to which ends I will succeed,

Stepping, touching, inching through life,

I shall find that end as fate decides,

Exactly when the snow shall fall – thus I will keep moving.
