FOUR PIECE PORTRAIT

Humans arent always aware of their true feelings,

Until a heart is shattered like a crumbling ceiling,

Animalistic notion can leave you with no words to describe,

An unbearable situation and emotions you cant hide

I was once told in a mix of truth and lies,

That one should show no love, because thats rule number five

Love will get you killed and leave you yearning to survive,

But I gave you my loveAnd here I am, still alive

Walking into a scattered room

Dripping with passion and despair

Portraits of 4 men in separate worlds

Blood brothers with a similar affair

On the left side of eternity,

With a broken harp upon the stairs

One plays his pain through music

With no doubts, regrets or cares

On the right side of emotion,

An empty void left to be

Staring deep into a mist of devotion,

The second finds nothing here to see

Above a hurricane of fear

The third hangs with no control

But in the grasps of his arms

the sight of trust he seems to hold

The fourth, the youngest of course

Below a halo of remorse

Whispers Love sweet love

Not for fashion or for show

But simply just because…

A story of four souls

In separate worlds of meaningful conclusion

Once stood strong and steadfast

Aware of true untouched love

With no fairytale illusions

Take the harp, the void less stare,

The grasp of trust, sweet love to share

Four brothers torn apart

by women with whom their love they shared

Together ride a horseless cart unable to depart

Give meaning and connotation to the broken pieces of my heart......

Wow, this really made my day. I love how you write so smoothly... esp with the rhyme, it sets such a steady beat to the poem, and also makes us respect you and your writing more. I expect everyone will interpret this poem in different ways, but for me... when i read it, i didnt even notice my phone beep. Wow your grasp on the reader is unexpected and so positive. Thanks for uploading this to share with me. Stunning.

I think the title adds a lot to the realization aspect of this poem. The portrait of a man's emotion can never be only one canvas, or one sculpture, for human love and human suffering is too complete in it's multifaceted simplicity.

Above all else, great writing.

To love means to be vulnerable. To open oneself and expose the soul also means to risk heartache and pain. Great poem.

The rhyme seems effortless with no barrier holding it back to create the juddering rhythm of sharp annoyance, there is a fluidity presence in the rolling words that spill to form a gentle beat of calm emotions spread upon the sea of caressing waves, from darkness of such dark aromas you pull forth a lighter tune to play upon the canvas of sorrow and lost love, between the cracks in what was once whole you find a melody you can play and define as something different to those who fall idiot to the simple grief of lost love, wonderful. With notes a sorrow spilled forth but with the chords of hope they merged to form a net of understanding, as loss turned experience to hold a memory of time.

Very well written! The imagery is great in this.
"Until a heart is shattered like a crumbling ceiling,"

and this...

I was once told in a mix of truth and lies,
That one should show no love, because that’s rule number five
Love will get you killed and leave you yearning to survive,
But I gave you my love…And hear I am, still alive…

Great setup. You took a chance on love and you survived.
The room seemed more like a museum for the fallen. A nice touch. I don't want to dig to deep into the position of the four pictures because then I'm putting 'my' spin on it but this works. Nicely paced and written and I enjoyed reading this. Sorry it took me so long.

I absolutely love this piece. This is so beautifully written. You can see and feel the heartbreak in this. I loved the imagery you gave. A very sad and powerful piece, the downside of loving. The visualization of broken heart set in four different paintings. I can't say enough about it. Wonderful write.
