Here And NowA Poem by Stanley R. TeaterLove LostI look upon her face so fair, and smile. Nature’s perfect canvas. Those lips and eyes, They sing to my heart and my soul, but while I celebrate I hear a voice wise. It whispers, reminding me that all things On earth are heaven sent and racing by With the speed of mighty eagles on wings. “So love her here and now, not asking why The troubled dawn might crack your perfect dream. This time, now,
is all that you have to live. So love with all the heart that you would seem To have. Waste not one thing that you can give.” So I grab the moment and hold on tight, Before the here and now goes out of sight. But then I look upon her face and see A wistful wish for what can never be. Mourn not for me. I had my here and now. And I’ll have another. Someday. Somehow. © 2016 Stanley R.
