An Autumn DayA Poem by Stanley R. TeaterRenewal‘Twas an autumn day that drew me outside To drink in nature’s heady concoction. Leaves danced to the tune of a playful breeze, And the sun shone down warm upon my back. Billowy clouds scurried across blue sky. Birds sang. Butterflies fluttered: weightless, free. My step was light; my spirit soaring high. Worries had I, but they were left behind To molder and die in my yesterdays. Tomorrow had a hopeful happy hint Of better times and tender loving arms To hold me tight and squeeze away my pain. Ah, yes, I thought. On such a day as this The world can begin again and leave us To start anew, refresh ourselves and breathe Untroubled air, sweet, and clear, and so kind That our sins are left behind like old dust To sweep away and toss aside. Forget. © 2016
