Laid to RestA Poem by Placenta
Over lost time,
my old friend, I've watched you become a bettered man. And I am grateful for the grin you wear. Genuine, thoughtful, teeth gloriously bared. Long ago, I met you, a boy. A sweet little cherub, a life you enjoyed. Yae, you were glorious with your eyes full of wonder until you met me, when your life drowned deep under. Foolish girl, that I was. Young and hard-tempered. I thought I was golden, I thought I was clever. I thought myself an honour, and you the prize-winner. But you were the award, and I, the begging sinner. You did right to rid of me for you are much better. I grew much more modest, I... not so clever. Dear old friend, be, please, not so begrudging. I did my time long ago, I look not for your judging. But ye, I understand if I am not worthy to have a spot within your world for I am garbage, I am unworldly. You, my old friend, forever do I owe... You hang the moon, The garden's you've sown. I was a fool, an idiot at best. But, Lord, I'm so sorry I laid love to rest. © 2011 PlacentaReviews
