Shaking on a ledge...A Poem by Phillip J ClaytonDedicated to an unforgotten friend...Prescribed pain. Needles tearing skin. Killing memories... Veins, all roads lead to death. A gun in shaky hands. Legs are heavy... Standing fully armed, A bottle in hand, Steering into black, Heart ripped from the chest...a scream! I will never be like you! Sadness, a comforting friend. Flirting with a ledge, death smiling back. Pull the trigger! Voices on replay... Close your eyes and dream of better days. A violent lull to sleep. Life, a treasure not meant to keep. The sun blackened by the day. Embrace the end... I ask you now, let me be. There's nothing left... © 2012 Phillip J Clayton |
