As we layA Poem by Harlequinn DiamondA poem dedicated to Remembrance Day. (The nearest sunday to the 11th)
And as we lay dying, From a world filled with sin, The day breaks into sunlight, Another war begins And as we lay weeping, The pain is immense, Next time we’ll be mentioned, They’ll use the past tense And as we lay bleeding, Upon floors of brown, The sky’s soaked dark crimson, As the soldiers fall down And as we lay singing, Any last hope of life, Is sent home in letter, To a was hopeful wife And as we lay rotting, Round poppies of red, Remember, we are the fighters, And we are the dead. © 2008 Harlequinn DiamondAuthor's Note
