My fight

My fight

A Poem by Pista
"

We all struggle in our lives one way or the other. To be true to yourself is the real fight.

"
For they might call you crazy,
for your view isn't hazy
and you're not lazy to not look,
how ruthless they are.

Welcome to the society of the living dead,
for the dead are better,
Lying silently in their graves
expecting no more than flowers and a remembrance letter.

You are supposed to be yourself
But not really,
For if you are,they'll leave
your eyes teary.

This isn't about me writing from shadows,
or shouting with banners in daylight.
To get the message across
Is My Fight.

You make a very clear (IMO) statement about a social duplicity that gives lip service to individuality ("You are supposed to be yourself"), but punishes it and insists on conformity ("how ruthless they are","they'll leave/your eyes teary."). Well done, and keep fighting.
