1. My Fabulous Daily RoutineA Chapter by OctoberRose
“Brenna! Where are you?” I heard my mom’s voice muffle from the floor above.
“I’m already downstairs, ma!” I yelled back up to my mother, shoving a bit of cinnamon bagel into my mouth as I put my pink stud earring in my ear. I watched her from my seat at the island as she came down the stairs, slipping her black heel on. She walked over to me, grabbing her purse from the island and kissed my forehead. “Don’t be late,” she growled, grabbing my face in her hands. “I won’t, ma,” I grinned a mouthful of bagel at her. She rolled her eyes and smiled. She grabbed her black leather jacket, and slipped out the door. “Love you!”I heard her yell through the door. “Love you, too!” I called back, then shoved the rest of my bagel in my mouth. I dug through the fridge to find the fat free milk carton and unscrewed the cap. I glugged three big mouthfuls, then put it back. What? I’m a sixteen " almost seventeen " year old girl. My manners aren’t perfect. I grabbed my Northface, slipped my furry black Uggs on over my faded skinnies, and put my cute-as-all-get-out Vera Bradley purse over my shoulders. I got my keys out of the front pocket of my purse, locked the house and skipped over to my silver Audi. I got in and started driving to Ethan’s. So, I guess I must introduce myself, since you’re probably a little confused why I started with this morning. Let me explain. My name is Brenna Lynn Townes. The only person I live with is my mother, Anna Bernette Townes. I don’t have any siblings, it’s just us.No father, nothing. He left us when I was a day old. Yeah, he was one of those a******s. Whatever, I like my life and I love my mom to death. My mother is a social worker and I work at Starbucks after school Monday and Wednesday nights, so we’re pretty good with the whole money and financial situations. I am sixteen-years-old as I have mentioned before. My birthday is actually tomorrow, which is a Saturday. I have a small slumber party planned with Tiarra, Julietta, and my best friend, Jennifur. Ethan is my boyfriend. He’s grounded and that’s why I have to pick him up today. His parents took his car away. Oh well, he’s hot. And yes, I am the popular girl in school. ** I pulled up in front of Ethan’s big beige house. He was already waiting there with a small frown on his face. He opened the door and got in. “Hey, baby,” I smiled at him. “Hey.” His reply was a small grunt of English. “What’s wrong?” He looked out the window and didn’t answer until we were at least a block from his house. “You’re late. Again.” “Sorry! I woke up late and had to eat breakfast. You don’t want your babydoll to be distracted from you, do you?” I batted my eyelashes at him. His mouth twitched. He gave a slow smile. “No, baby.” “Mmm,” I sighed, and turned my eyes back to the road. “That’s what I thought.” ** We arrived at school just on time. We both dashed to our separate homerooms just before the bell rang. I took my seat besides Jennifur. She laughed quietly as I slid into my seat after Ms. Delvin gave me the evil eye. I threw Jenny a quick smile. “Routon, Jennifur?” “Here!” Jenny chirped. “Townes, Brenna?” “Present.” I said. “Willis, Lori?” I stopped listening, when Jenny whispered, “Can’t wait for tomorrow!” I grinned at her, “Me neither. I turn seventeen. How cool is that?” She laughed and we both turned our attention to Ms. Delvin’s lecture of the morning. ** Basically, I have homeroom with Ms. Delvin (bitchiest teacher ever) , then I go to Chorus with Ms. Hughes (coolest teacher ever) , then Math I with Mr. Gonzalez (hottest teacher ever), Lunch, Biology with Mr. Tincher (most boring teacher ever), P.E. with Coach Lewis (she’s okay) , and then back to Ms. Delvin with History. Just normal stuff. Except in the halls, kids would whisper, wave, and talk to me. ‘Cause I’m me, you know? The popular girl. Only I’m not so bitchy like in the movies. I’m actually kinda nice. I don’t stuff my bra, I’m not a ho, I don’t wear thongs, and I don’t pick on the nerds. Some of them are my friends. I’m a pretty cool person. Okay, so first chapter sucked. Sorry. Just keep reading okay? Please? -K © 2011 OctoberRose |
