Away

Away

A Poem by PinkLemonade
"

This is somewhat dark... different from what I usually write. I hope that you like it!

"

Fingers trace up my back.

Claws cut haunting songs

Into my arms.

The wind whispers

Horror stories

Into my ears.

The trees scream

As their bodies

Are torn by the gale.

A muddy river rushes.

The waves reach

For my ankles,

Laughing at me.

Tempting me.

How easy it would be

To let them grab me,

To fall into the water,

To let it wrap it's arms

Around me.

To let it put me

To sleep.

But I don't give in.

I walk on,

Into the icy grip

Of the shadows.

I turn around,

Staring at the last bits

Of hopeful sun.

I want it.

I want to go back

Into the warmth

And the light.

I want to be true.

I don't want to slip away.

I try

To fight my way back

Into the sun

Under the clouds

Into hope.

But the dark trees

Wrap their bloody braches

Around my waist

And pull me back

Into the shadows.

Away from the light.

Away from the heat.

Away from reality.

Away.

Well done! You had me with you the whole time! And yes, it is dark, but it works!
