goodbye

A Poem by Robert Malcom
"

My best friend in the world is now gone. so I wrote a poem about her.

"

It's taken me down glittering paths of snow,

where piles of dirty stones like flowers grow,

to see everlasting skies of burning red,

and to wander cursed mountain paths arrayed with bones of the dead.

It took me by the hand and tugged me at the heart,

I followed it on to the end of all life's living start,

we talked with words like love and sang with songs of light,

nothing could tear away from me the memory of those nights.

burdend by nothing, our hearts but grew, ressurected by a call,

seperated by something, that wasn't true, that left no trace at all,

many nights I searched but all in vain, for the girl who took me in,

many nights I cursed my wretched name, and all my wretched sin.

I came to her one night and in bitterness did I cry,

for it was here that our lovely year of kinship was to die.

now memories and nightmares of her kindness bleed me dry,

for never shall I know more pain than on the night she said goodbye.
