A pattern.

A pattern.

A Poem by Nathan Mann

If you knew me better,
If you knew me longer,
You'd see the pattern I've made.
If you've seen me fall in love,
If you've seen me throw it away,
You'd know it's of my own design.
Maybe in time you'll find,
Maybe this time I'll be fine,
You can tell from my eyes that's a lie.
Maybe one day I won't push her away,
Maybe I won't beg her to stay,
You might wish it were today.
If I rush in unprepared,
If I admit that I'm scared,
You'll know it's only beginning.
If you wanted to help,
If I broke the pattern,
Maybe my heart would feel safe.
