A Poem by Nathan Mann

Beyond tired,
Hope's expired.
Chances gone.
A new day's dawn.
Tired, hopeless,
I trudge on.
Still, I'm fighting.
Still, I'm writing.
is this who I want to be?
Get in, turn the key.
Drive away,
forget today.
don't slow down.
Push down harder,
go on farther.
over the river,
bridges make me shiver.
Then, I'm fine
going up the incline.
just go home,
I've no need to roam.
but still I go.
until I know
I won't be found.
off the ledge,
into the ground.
