MomA Poem by Nathan Mann
Three years of caring,
loving me. Then you're gone. where could you be? Back again, 'Til I'm four Once again out the door Is this it? I love you. School is starting It's my hair now, that you're parting. You're here to stay with me and dad then you leave us. Am I that bad? Is this it? We miss you. In the courthouse dad and me. looking for you. where could you be? I play with blocks and the woman talks Asking where I want to be "My family" Is this it? I miss you. Few months later now I see you Wednesday and Sunday Those, our days. Is this it? I miss you. You're in Nevada, miles away. Can I see you? I need to talk. With this weather? not today. Now I see you holidays. Is this it? Who are you? I'm 14 now, so much bigger it's my birthday, so you see me. Bringing a dog, "this is 'Gigi'" Wait a year, then you've sold her. No, I don't want to come over. Is this it? I know you. Look at me, almost a man. Beat and broken, still I stand. Thanks to dad and the Strouds. Yet, All my problems can be found. See that mirror? look around. This is it. I hate you.
