Daytime Hauntings

Daytime Hauntings

A Poem by Pierce Bryant
"

Misshapen hopes and dreams

"

I find myself dreaming of you, even when I'm awake
A dream I seem so willing to forsake.

Though in the night I see,
an endless wall shaped like a destiny.

Can neither see through or around,
And nor in this wall can any colors be found.

I wonder what you look like,
If your smile will ever be mine to see.

Yet it feels so fleeting,
That hope that I hold is my destiny.

I once wondered about you my dream,
And why I hope and yet continue to blaspheme.

Have I been ordered to wander, pursue an infinite level of patience in holding to that which is my only true self.

Perhaps the courage and integrity I lack is the only achievement I need.

To forfill myself to you, my dream, as the one thing I've been longing to meet.

Best line: why I hope yet continue to blaspheme

I love how you describe the hope and longing of a fulfilled daydream. And yet it takes on a different form in night's dream.. either way there is hope in potential fulfillment. This is the perfect uttering of a hopeless romantic! (Takes one to know one I suppose).

Beautiful writing!
