I Thought Today...

I Thought Today...

A Poem by Pi Cee

I thought of habit, and how we fall into it so easily
How it can take control and you even forget why you started.
How you get so used to doing one thing even if you wanted, your body wouldn't stop.

I thought of how we look and stare
but all our eyes do are look right through.
Thoughts of why we don't really see filled my mind for just a minute.

The idea that we could be that scared kind of just floated by
but when I realized nothing else worked unconsciously it anchored in tight.

I thought we knew what we were doing
whenever 'I love you' entered the picture
But truth showed me eagerly nobody knows squat.

I thought when the sun shines smiles were happier
then I realized it just made the shadows deeper.
That smiles in the sun were more likely lies than expressions of good day joy.

I thought about how we all think we know our names
But then why are a lot of them the same?

My mind's been busy all day today thinking
seeing and wondering, but still never knowing.
Which also brings me to a pretty big question,
what do we even really know
when everything we're taught contradicts itself over and over in an endless cycle?

Your ink ponders many things. You've put together some really good images, that make one think. The metaphor about how when the sun shines brighter it only makes the shadows deeper is brilliant and one can't deny it's validity in the world.
I hope that the addictions of habits unwanted, find their way to better things that bring brighter rewards.

Great Ink!
