Masked

Masked

A Poem by Pi Cee

Hit a little harder, cut in a little deeper
I fear Reality is waiting.

Waiting for that one hard blow
that one too deep slice
to flow out of the armor chinks that keep it in control.

Molded for a smoother life, easier, more carefree
Placed solidly, fit to hold strong
but the fists and knives have weakened it.

Reality is a scaring thing, merciless, iron-gripped
are you smart to let it free?

Hit and bang and scratch and cut,
soon it will break through.
And then you'll see its harsh, hard ways
waiting to run you down.

Hit a little harder, cut just a bit deeper
the menace of life is brewing.

i struggled with this one and had to read it several times and i'm still not sure about it. You have to forgive me, i have but a public school education and a lot slips past me.

If i'm not mistaken this is about our own truths and no matter the fight or how hard we dodge, we will be smacked with it. That is the way of life for humans today me thinks. We are all so bombarded with bullshit escape is easy. The only thing about escape, is you have to now watch your back more closely and you are always ready for the other shoe to fall. If I have that right.

Thank you for pieces, such a young mind with such clarity is what we need in this our waste land of a country.

Very dark tone; great imagery;
Isn't it great to express our personal hells?

like the repetition of this stanza.."Hit a little harder, cut just a bit deeper"...establishing the thought and then convencing ME that it has...
"Reality is a scaring thing, merciless, iron-gripped
are you smart to let it free?"
