Stronger

Do you see how full of cracks
Your heart is to those who know you?
Do you feel it when it shatters
As us that see you, see it shatter
After you’ve let somebody too close?
Do you feel the brokenness?
The emptiness?
That us who see you and know you
See you go through everyday?
Why do we wonder at how it’s a miracle
You haven’t fallen apart yet?
Why do we see so many flaws in you?
Flaws that should have unhinged you by now?
Why do we see you and say again and again that we know you
While we still question ourselves on why you still smile?

the power of this poem is that it shows me that there is no set standards for a person's choices. while the narrator may have her perspective, clearly the "victim' is living her (his) life by a different set of standards. there's pathos that's captured here but i'm not sure the "victim" is the source. nice piece, you demonstrate great control over your poem's voice and tone.

. a very poignant piece of poetry ... i think though that the weak are simply bereft of hope ... the strong simply have more of it ... and i do think that we need to pass on as much as we can ...
