That Dream

That Dream

A Story by Pi Cee

"From a couple days back. Remember, I told you about it" ~says her heart

"
I'm working/writing at the desk in our home office. I hear little feet run down the stairs and your laugh at her happy "Ta da!". Our baby is so beautiful and she has your soft set eyes, and small rounded chin. SHe's always asking questions, always lost in wonder at the world and its busyness.
I close my eyes and just listen to your voices, coming from the mouths of the two biggest pieces of my life. She's said "Where's Mommy, Daddy?" and you've just told her "Let's find out.". I hear you walk up the creaking steps, and her little feet trailing behind.
"Mommy!" she shrieks when her little eyes see the messy bun of my hair behind the black of the computer. She runs to me and I lift her up onto my lap and her arms wrap around my neck. "Mommy, I missed you.".
You're standing in the doorway, just smiling away. "Maybe Mommy should take a break and come watch TV with us, hm?"
     "Daddy! Of course she will!"
She jumps off my lap pulling my fingers in her little hand and leads us both down the steps. She runs for the couch when her feet leap off the last one, and you wrap me in your arms, kiss me gently, and whisper "I love you".
     "I love you too."
