Somewhere Along the Way I Changed

Somewhere Along the Way I Changed

A Poem by Phoenix

"
It ran me over like a raging bull.
Tossed me around with the force of a tornado.
I couldn't come out the same,
I had changed.
Taking the good with the bad.
The positive with the negative.
I stand somewhere in the middle,
Lost between what I want and what was given,
What I want to forget and the memories that haunt me.

It hit me like a tidal wave that never receded.
My emotions scattered like debris,
Floating in and out of sight.
A constant reminder of what could have been,
And almost was.
The wreckage never clears,
My feelings never fade.
It pounds in my heart,
Flows through my veins,
Without my consent.

My voice is unheard.
My cries are unanswered.
Somewhere along the way I changed,
But who I was is not forgotten.
And who I am,
Will never be the same.
