Labyrinth

Labyrinth

A Poem by Phoenix Morgan

Labyrinth

I am here again,

On familiar paths worn bare

By treading feet, dragging or rushing forward.

I swear I've seen that tree before,

Or that I've made this turn.

Why does everything look so familiar?

But this familiar turn

Forces me to turn back and see

The path that came before.

The road of the past is not the same

As the footsteps of the future,

For these steps are the first of a new journey,

A new direction,

That I was always heading in.

Sometimes you just need a turn-about

To get going the right way.

I like this for so many reasons.. it's actually a gripping story in poem form, but it has a universal and meaningful theme about back-tracking in life and repeating perhaps mistakes? But I like the uplifting hope that you color it with by implying you were always going in the right direction. Great writing!
