Lullaby

Lullaby

A Poem by Phoen-ix

You spent four months writing
nursery rhymes for a baby that
you would never know and
tonight,
you're shaking like a newborn calf,
under the waning moon
Laying to rest,
a little boy in a crocheted gown
A son wrapped up in blue

Author's Note

Phoen-ix
Lately I've been thinking about my writing and how personal experiences shape, and form what it is. My mother had a miscarriage before she became pregnant with me, and I wrote this for not only her, but for myself. This is so I can always acknowledge my mother's pain and suffering, and how it has shaped her into the person she is today. Sometimes we forget that our mothers experienced life before they brought us into this world.

This write touches me to the bone dear poet. So much emotion runs through each line and I can almost feel your mother's pain myself. A very touching, loving tribute to your mother and her little one that did make it to term. May you have a very very blessed day my friend.
