Mutuality

Mutuality

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee

Mutuality …

I do not require

Obsequious muse or praise,

To win over my attention

There is an easier way.

No showering of presents

Pontificating of goodwill,

Or wanton sensuality

Could stir this heart from still.

What fires up my instincts

More than any pleasantries,

Is knowing deep inside my heart

You feel the same as me.

What a great piece! I love the way that you brought this together...it really speaks to my heart. There are so many people who believe that they need to "be" or "give" something, play a part if you will, in order to gain the acceptance of someone, but really it's that "common ground" that makes all the difference.

No showering of presents
Pontificating of goodwill,
Or wanton sensuality
Could stir this heart from still.

--love this stanza...brilliantly written.

This is magnificent. It so genuine and touching. The last stanza especially stands out to me and well, like Anima said...it speaks to my heart...and that is what a great write does. Phenomenal piece with so much depth and realness. love it!

Nicely penned! Write on!

Here was my version:

Mutuality

There's nothing I want for me
That I don't want for you
There's nothing I want from you
That I'm not willing to give back
If my epitath read just one thing
Let it say, all my days ...
I shared all of me with you
And shared your burdens too

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mutuality is a cool thing. Hard to find but a cool thing.
Now......this is interdependence.......oh yes I know the style isn't sycophantic; neer gaining favour oh and never pontificating manner...you r just loving all of us.
your love for our poetry is motiveless........that's what I adore about you.
you are loved and loving from the depths of your heart, yes. for voyages across the oceans of our imagination you desire to participate unconventionally, quiet, exotic, touching.... you r certainly on your way to making your loving humanity manifest: I believe you.
