Phillozofee’s Kōan No. 1 - LOVE

Love has no physiological substance; no molecular structure, yet it possesses a power that can be erotic, platonic, familial, romantic, unrequited, problematic, sensual, sexual, courtly, bonding, pleasurable, painful, ecstatic, illicit, or unconditional.

An unseeing energy of immense magnitude; used wisely, can bring indescribable elation.

However, in foolish hands, does it becomes a weapon of destruction?

A koan is a story, dialogue, question, or statement in the history and lore of Chn (Zen) Buddhism, generally containing aspects that are inaccessible to rational understanding, yet may be accessible to intuition. A famous koan is: "Two hands clap and there is a sound; what is the sound of one hand?" (Oral tradition, attributed to Hakuin Ekaku, 1686-1769, considered a reviver of the koan tradition in Japan).

So true, love can become a weapon of mass destruction for some. When the line is crossed and the intoxicated or obsessed by love are prepared to do anything to please their lover, including crime. Thank you for introducing me to the koan. You have increased my knowledge today and got my brain into gear.
Good morning Phill.

Perhaps it depends on whose hands it's placed or - importantly, vitally, in whose heart? Love is rather like knitting, you know. As always, fine writing.. maybe it should have been placed with the poems about love!

Also said : the sound of one hand is heard in the breeze it makes when it sighs, Phill.

To have a great attention for each other is not about making analysis it is about synthesis, the combination in particular. Does love have molecular structure? It depends if you are being analytical or synthetically creative. Science is just another word for knowledge. The purpose for knowledge is to exclude mystery and superstition. In other words, knowledge by its reductionist nature excludes God, Love, Mysticism, and sensuality. This is the difficulty with knowledge of love: it becomes reductionist. Unconditional love, yes: it becomes unspeakable. In which case it becomes love action? "An unseeing energy of immense magnitude; used wisely, can bring indescribable elation. " -----------this is becoming reductionist and transformative.

"However, in foolish hands, becomes a weapon of mass destruction!" -------well let me ask you another question. what is the difference between love infatuation and obsession, altruism, compassion? This abstraction, in the way you transform them are critical; that means that everyone has to find it within him or herself. One cannot discuss this easily.

A beautiful thought, much appreciated; I enjoyed so much that I ask when do you post a new thought? you are right, the koan is accessible to intuition. Every word is a symbolic simplistic reduction.
