Cathexis

Cathexis

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

An irresistible force

"

Cathexis

The object of aspiration

Cathexis in nature

Tormented his spiritual fibre

To absurdities of obsession.

All reason now abandoned

From her maddening seductions

Prostrated and succumbing totally

He crawled towards her feet.

Mistress of his imaginings

Sensing victorious sensual feasting

Magnanimously allowed him

Adoration washing tears.

All that he had wanted

Every perfect instant

Lay a miniscule breath distance

Just one gesture from her notion

At her time of harvest

The tolling of his essence

Brought unfathomable pleasures

From their melding into one.

Cathexis - a psychoanal investment of energy: the concentration of a great deal of mental and emotional energy on one particular person, thing, or idea.

We in Germany translate this "Libidobesetzung",

The object of aspiration

Cathexis in nature

Tormented his spiritual fibre

To absurdities of obsession. ---------------the word comes from the Greek "kathexis", retention or continued possession, and was coined by Sigmund Freud. Freud thought of cathexis as "a psychic analog of an electrical charge".

All reason now abandoned

From her maddening seductions

Prostrated and succumbing totally

He crawled towards her feet.------------you concentrated well the mental actuating force on your(or your character's) beloved and it is an open question in which per cent this is an unhealthy degree.

Mistress of his imaginings

Sensing victorious sensual feasting

Magnanimously allowed him

Adoration washing tears.-----------also in intimacy people prefer this Ruler and The sumbissive one- play. This is actually happening in daily life...almost, the same rules I thought.

All that he had wanted

Every perfect instant

Lay a miniscule breath distance

Just one gesture from her notion---------here you are playing successfully with the expectation. As I said already on WC, when presenting one of my eroticas, the fascination and excitement comes from the "expectation of the event but not neccessarily the event itself".

At her time of harvest

The tolling of his essence

Brought unfathomable pleasures

From their melding into one. ---------very nice metaphysical insight of yours, I also write about this since 3 years, and yes repeteated that in many works, "that idea of ONE". So we readers now through your last stanza know, that your lovers are real lovers in heart-cave and mind. They do not sex. They have a love-sex-experience. how wonderful. I adored this well written, intensely personal and shockingly obsessive poem.

Yes!!! And this is a common thing called OBSESSION...dangerous emotions, the type that would kill for the sake of love...talk about an oxy-moron! Well said Phill...

It seems that when we find love we DO put all our energy into that person...it's lovely as well as frightening at times. This is an intelligent, well written piece that comes from someone who has obviously been there ;)
Wonderful work! :)
