Your second line says it all. It’s when conflict replaces love..to me that means when conflict becomes the need (insistence) to be right outweighs another’s thoughts and feelings and at that point no one ever wins.. You wrapped it up in a nutshell with such truth. Very well done.
This reminds me of a country song by Radney Foster and he's such a great writer and poet. Your poem is the essence of his song, "Nobody Wins", that he wrote with Kim Richey. Your poem translated into a very nice concentrate.

So true. When the wounding starts, the natural instinct is to hit back, but that is not always the best thing to do - especially if we want love to triumph!
one can interpret this in so many ways... a very bold statement...If conflict wins, how can anyone stand up and be proud, stand up and love, stand up and believe in anything?
Conflict destroys everything inside of you, most importantly one's soul.
Bold poem.

Well done Phil ... these few words perfectly capture that feeling at the end of a relationship.
There are no winners. Of that I am sure ... having been one of those "wounded souls"
Nicely written.
Well done.

I am caught in a time spiral of confusion; that period we all experience between birth and death.
Somewhere inside hides a poet, writer, lyricist and/or whatever, laying dormant and suppressed by s.. more..
