Settled

Settled

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Thoughts untwining...

"

Settled

Recollecting my tumbleweed years

Drifting aimless on a zephyr’s whim

Where reckless adolescence dreams

Replaced all normal commonsense

Yet felt the best of times I ever lived

Hindsight never healed transgressions

And forgiveness can be an allusive gift

This was my precedent untamed spirit

Free falling in an unprecedented epoch

Where dark corners hid secret charms

Repetitive restlessness extracts a toll

Thus yearnings for stability manifests

Even lone wolfs search for safe comfort

After years of self inflected seclusion

Now was the time to seek to be settled

Bruising learning lessons slash deep

But my instinct of survival was strong

Inner strength grew chainmail resolve

To overcome life’s challenging hurdles

Moulding boy into a solid man of clay

Amazing work of looking back at youth, then struggling as a loner, but also learning from mistakes...some of them seemingly dark....trying to find oneself is a difficult task, but with perseverance and inner strength, it can be achieved. Fine work Phil.

We learn many lessons throughout life. Lots of them when we are younger and many times more adventurous

Wonderful use of language; I like the imagery. It has a melodic tone. I can't help rooting for the speaker's difficult transformation from teenager to adult.

An amazing poetic journey of life, learning and spirit, in all phases. Phill, your heartfelt words compelled me to walk alongside you through it all and experience it with you. Beautiful language, flow, imagery, alliteration throughout. So many parallels and such resonance felt...Thank you for this.

I never attained much stability...became that tumbleweed and stayed it...
the wind has calmed down some...and I am more stationary now...
but this poem was such a reflection of me that it scared me to look at it.
My face never looks good to me in the mirror.
this is like Kerouac only much better.

If you can dance at all, you must have pirouetted away yourself! I like the idea of inner strength becoming chainmail resolve. It's something I am in the process of growing. If you have reached a point of settled contentment then your chainmail is complete. I enjoyed the write, Phil. 🌹

A poem of spiritual awakening and growth. Moving from youth's tumbleweed years, surviving the challenges life can bring and sailing into settled waters. That is what I call an achievement. Lovely work Phill, a delight to read. Sending you best wishes and hoping the settled days continue to stay.
