Death of a Dream?

Death of a Dream?

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Hummmm...

"

Death of a Dream?

A dream is broken

And no one seems to care

At the lack of sympathy spoken

Thus death means apathy

A poignant sacrifice

And forfeit saves lives

At an unselfishly high price

Thus death means martyrdom

A love has decayed

And one-sided relationship ends

At a union now left betrayed

Thus death means regret

A plant grows

And at its death

A seed falls and sows

Thus death means renewal

A cycle is implanted

And eternity smiles softly

At fresh creation that is granted

Thus death means life

I'm not fully catching your meaning, but I love how your poem teeters on the precipice of real-life pondering & the slightly expanded drama of Halloween spookiness. This poem feels like I feel lately. Since it's Halloween, I go ahead & discuss the dark side of life in more haunted terms than usual, bluntly observing the cycle of life & death with a cold calculating eye. Just like the Cali wildfires of August & September were useful in clearing heavily forested lands & the covid virus is relieving us of having to care for the infirm well into old age, maybe we're simply due for a fresh housecleaning of all this old detritus such as dreams of equality & planetary health & unity! Dreams are so cumbersome, let's just wipe them away & allow whatever comes next to just get here (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love how you keep coming back to the same motif 'thus death means' it breaks each stanza up abruptly and perfectly and always keeps focus on what the poem is exploring. Very nicelyp written!! :D

So beautifully penned! I love how you string pearls of wisdom and tie them together into a gorgeous stand. Death is Life yet we fear it so much.
