Knots

Along our lifeline

Past transgressions are like knots

We can’t untangle

Strange things are knots: even though created in one or another specific way, they can still vary. Tensions too loose or too tight, of course.. and whether or not tied by a right or left=handed person.. one can be held captive for hours. Rather like being tied in knots by words said, a taut lost route, too many doubs as to how to interpret! You so often find few words to create a tome, Phill! This is no exception, sir. So hope life is walking a peaceful path these days. Take care, keep safe. Please.

This was profound. I thought of knots we tie...knots that come from neglect...knots that seem to come out of nothing...knots that could have been prevented. The metaphor was great. Sometimes it can be overwhelming to look at a knot and imagine the work it would take to untie it. The rest depends on the individuals ideas about hope. Great piece.

I've experienced many such transgressions that are so damaging, there's no hope of ever untangling in the aftermath & the only remedy is to put much distance between oneself & one's tormentor! *smile* Your senryu applies even to the garden variety transgressions which may be forgiven, but leave a knotty lump in play (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is so true, and the short but effective way you described it was fantastic. A great poem I'm glad I clicked on. (:

The knots are hard and non-negotiable to open. They'll stay where they are but we have to leave them where they are of perish. My viewpoint on past mistakes is as follows. Own up to it. Accept your responsibility in the negative experience. Move on. Let go of what you cannot and could not control.
From another perspective in some of our eastern cultures, the tying of a knot was said to be a symbol for good luck and good things to come. It was mostly a sign to keep out bad luck. So good luck.

Yes, and we can't untangle the past but we can make sure there are no knots in the future. Learn from our experiences. A spot on senryu, Phil.

Yes, and what makes it worse is we always go back to them (if we have morals and conscience) ruminating what we wished we had done instead.

Great poem.

Yes, some are so tightly knotted, it is almost impossible to untie them. Very visual Phill, meaningful too. Your posted image carefully selected. It's good to see you popping in again.
