Luna Weeps

Luna Weeps

Luna Weeps

Embraced in the sturdy arms

Of Terra’s abiding correlation

Luna shines her appreciation

In a cool elegant circling ballet

But an underlying melancholy

Unspoken between them lay

As she witnesses maltreatment

Of her partner’s innate majesty

His stained deforested ensemble

Less radiant than when created

Exposes unwanted exploitations

By the many greedy men of clay

Luna weeps her silence sorrows

As plastic pollutants in his veins

Contaminate millenniums of purity

Leaving a stench upon his breath

Flood-lettings of sweat proliferate

From his double crown of hoarfrost

And Terra struggles with his aegis

As Solis heats man’s toxic gases

Blackening stubble embers disfigure

In patches around his bruised dignity

Feeling like a furnace upon his face

Fuelled by near-apocalyptic climate

Luna hears his cries of consternation

And prays rescuers will be on hand

To liberate Terra from death’s door

So they can affably dance once more

oh my....the moon and earth as lovers....the sadness of one seeing the demise of the other...shedding lunar tears at what is being done to her mate.
excellent personification and metaphor used here...
damn you are good, Phill...
magical write.
with a heavy theme, and i wish people would listen to the wise poet and quit the destruction.

I had to pause & decide whether I could get my head around Mother Earth as a "he" . . . but then I supposed this could symbolize the utter flip-flop of normalcy that has earth lovers up in arms . . . there's something nurturing about the Mother Earth concept, whereas (sorry to be sexist) it's generally men (the testosterone mongers) who perpetuate war & this earth maleness could also be a toast to that, waging war against the planet, I mean. I agree with everything, but a poem like this just makes the planet rapers draw a caricature of environmentalists as being off their rockers. I do feel rage, just as you express in this poem, but I don't believe raging helps advance things. But I don't know what the hell could possibly advance things with the political climate being what it is for the past 30 - 50 years. I'll shut up now. Very powerful sentiments well expressed! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

dearest Phill... my feathered friends and myself are heart-broken
over the Illness of our once beautiful Earth. The Lunar weeps for
the illness of Earth. If only we could experience New Birth.
Your writing needs to be published World-wide as a wakeup call.
Please see if you can do this, as nothing else can touch the hearts of mankind,
except to read about the healing process as provided in Poetry. Bless you
with Prayers and Love, dearly, Pat

Beautifully conveyed. Yes, the moon must weep when seeing the destruction of its mate planet earth. So relevant with the havoc caused by bush fires at the moment, deforestation of the rain forests and plastic pollution of our oceans. Not content with that, we risk blowing it apart. Your poetic expression and language are top notch here Phill. Great writing, poet. A job well done. Fine expression and linguistics.

A more than powerful pronouncement, Phill. As a poem it has everything essential, as serious thought on what is happening tween those superbly metaphoric lovers (as always have been) is a call, loud and clear.

Am wondering too if this refers to the horrific scale of the fires in Australia? They and the flooding in Indonesia are ridiculously and ironically comparable in their difference tragedies.

Thank you and more for sharing this first class poem. This especially struck home,

' Flood-lettings of sweat proliferate - From his double crown of hoarfrost - And Terra struggles with his aegis - As Solis heats man’s toxic gases.

Blackening stubble embers disfigure - In patches around his bruised dignity - Feeling like a furnace upon his face - Fuelled by near-apocalyptic climate. '

powerful and relentless Phil ... heavy hitting with every verse ... the moon and earth as lovers .. as she weeps and sees that much larger picture from afar ..well done sir! we all bear responsibility .. to do what we can ... in small ways .. one plastic bag at a time ... plant trees ... they are cheap from Arbor Day .. I really feel the weight of this Phil .. well done sir ... what la luna sees and cries over needed the poets voice to bring it ... such a heavy weight :{
