Yule Lovers

Yule Lovers

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

I know it is early ... but I could not resist ... :-)

"

Yule Lovers

Smokey log fire crackles

And splashes its embers

Upon the glowing grate

Flickering ambient flames

Hypnotically pulse visions

Of passionate Yule lovers

Cinnamon flavoured wine

Still tastes upon lush lips

As gentle kisses caress

Entwining bodies clinch

In reciprocal celebration

Of their special evening

Unmatched shared gifts

In ardent tender touches

Complete cohesive joy

So to savour passions

External earth’s events

Forgotten for a moment

Thus altruistic fulfilment

Brings elated contentment

On their exclusive night

this is beautiful....and reminds me of the many Christmases i had with ex wives or ex girlfriends that were always special..
and then i remember one Christmas Eve....that was so chaotic...
no "tender touches" just angry words..
this poem would have helped that Christmas for sure.
this is about all the good things...and what the Eve and Day really mean.

I'm fully in favor of more ardent celebrating like this! There's no such thing as starting this too early! I love how your title could be read as those who love Yuletime or about lovers at Yuletime. I'm not into the commercial trappings of the season, so to me, it's all about this -- sharing love, warmth, sensuality, spirituality -- whatever we've got to share! I love your poem for not being too persnickety. Let's just cut loose & feel the seasonality of thing! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

When I was a bachelor I used to hang up silk stockings every year. You know, in case Santa wanted to leave me a leggy blond or a sexy redhead for Christmas...(laughing) Seriously, this was just great, a fire, some wine, the right person to share it with...I can see me now, on a bearskin rug, in front of a Yule Log fire drinking hot cocoa and coloring pictures with my 4 year old princess. It might seem a tad tame to the Yule Lovers but one thing leads to another. :) Great holiday tribute well enjoyed.

This was hearthwarming Mr Phil:) I just lit a fire yesterday I do love your smoke signals now for me to find a victim to share it with instead of my nasty little feral cat LOL :) but I do remember a few lovely scenes in the back of my mind yes yes

This sounds like the most romantic holiday cuddle-session ever. It makes me wish I still had someone to share feelings like this with. Consistent form all the way through, along with a great flow. Some of my own poetry has been called "forced," referring to its rhyme scheme; your poetry, however, sounds as natural as rain. I could learn a lot from you.

' Cinnamon flavoured wine - Still tastes upon lush lips - As gentle kisses caress .. '

Oh yes, that's how it should be, Phill. Such a realistic and romantic way of having had and hopefully, looking forward to a perfect Christmas! Thank you for sharing such 'complete cohesive joy'!
