Once Upon a Pleasure

Once Upon a Pleasure

The morning mist sprinkled dew droplets

To hang prism sparkling sunbeam rainbows

Like diamonds on the rosebay willowherb

The stillness of budding meadow flowers

Suddenly stirred by soft padding motions

Getting closer from the grazing grassland

With curious eyes towards embankment

My attention was drawn to the river’s edge

As a faint fragrance of maiden filled the air

Barefooted on her pathway to cacoethes

She tiptoed softly upon flung tulip petals

Seductively sprinkled from wooden creel

Her demure expressive nervous giggling

Revealed an invisible request for passion

And anticipation to an ardour reciprocation

I could feel a trembling between our souls

As fingers entwined an outstretched hand

And she alighted onto my flamboyant punt

Comfortably reclined she mysteriously lay

With luscious lips of pouting fiery crimson

Cosy in my flat-bottomed craft of eagerness

Fumbling push propelling pole on river bed

We quickly slip down a crystal clear stream

Floating secretly into a calm luscious lagoon

Intoxicating ambience of mutual exchanges

Permeates ripples from our buoyant couch

As ardent urges upsurge in shared pleasure

Returning to morning’s sunrise rendezvous

Desires have congenially been acknowledged

As serenely she disembarks a square-cut bow

Watching her ascending to grass rise horizon

I’m filled with hope expectation for another day

When my lady of a morning mist again appears

The title is so perfectly enchanting to my senses, through Your words I was taken into old old times... when Romance was flowers and books, nature was the wondrous haven for lovers, Your imagination is lovely, loving, tender and calming, I was floating in the rivers of Rome with You and Your Mist's Nymph 💕

This is one of the most brilliant "making-love-with-the-outdoors" stories I've ever seen or could've imagined, even with my often writing about nature. I love your luscious imagery, sometimes with alliteration & adjectives piled high, which suggests the very abundance you describe. I love how you pay attention to the way words sound when piled together in a heap of flowing imagery. Love this poem & all the ways your nuances suggest possibilities! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I was thinking a space blanket and a bar or two of Kendal mint cake :)
The ambiance of this simply dances off the page and into my consciousness. A most intoxicating read, Phil. Bravo!

...my pleasure!
this is a sensual journey and reminds me of Cat Steven's "the boy with the moon and star"

a shared pleasure, a moment---and then they both move on with their lives from there...but will always have that remembrance...
