Satan’s Blade

Satan’s Blade

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Something needs to change...

"

Satan’s Blade

They carry knives for self-protection

Claiming it’s just a defensive reflection

But in truth it is another sad deflection

Away from local street gang’s infection

Satan’s blade their badge of dominance

Giving them a sensation of confidence

And on a gang leader clear prominence

Yet it has no foundational competence

Indefensible weapons of fearful distrust

Can ruin a young life with a lethal thrust

Confiscation tactics is a community must

To toss into a furnace turning all to dust

In the hideous face of society’s adversity

We need to battle against this perversity

With constructive sympathetic diversity

To improve our youths’ future certainty

You know i love the rhythm and rhyme of this Phil, Here its guns there its knives... The projections of manhood via gang related media paints this romantic picture of all the least manly qualities and aspects of humanity there is! From a time long since past the chains of bodnar perpetuates in the songs of disparity leaving the dregs for the dregs to clamor desperate what they can take from the crumbs no matter what the costs even if it is there humanity and the values get distorted in the fruits of the ages and comes to this. Goodness you made me think to much! I think that this was a very thoughtful write and obviously invoked me to this over zealous scrawl!

It had the rappers focus for sure. It seems like its a little out of control, like an episode of Peaky Blinders. This is the second write about the knives that I have read, crazy times and a great social comment my man!!

I cannot stress how much I love this. I bet if you put this with a beat it could definitely be something good, if that's the kind of thing you're into. I feel the anger and emotion put into this and the word choice is delicious, and I could eat it all up.

Phill,
Yes . . . I hear the hip hop rhythm . . . words too and the hard hitting message. Where does all that anger come from among our youth . . . so much angst. Young people have always struggled with the frustration of becoming an adult . . . but now their actions indicate so much despair. Phill, you hit the proverbial nail on the head. Here's hoping for a way out of this terrible mess.

It was drugs for a long time , but people had a choice to say "NO".
This seems to be gangland warfare... one or two individuals inciting others to kill with knives ... and they do! I keep wondering if they are threatened by others if they don't obey?
It's sick, and also some parents seem to be lacking in responsibilty of teach right from wrong these days.

fantastic write...the violence today among youth makes no sense...it is so random and just for the sake of itself...things have to change...or too many youths will never grow up to embrace the wisdom of age.
I remember in grade school and high school...we had rumbles, and it was just with fists...
not how it is now...

I can feel the anger and frustration in this, Phil, there are many causes related to the use of any weapon,
whether it be gun, knife, or club, none of which are ever truly dealt with.
I understand the point...that being said, I carry a knife and always have, (it's in the name), but I was also trained by ex-soldiers (father & Grandfather) to have a healthy respect for it as a useful tool and have passed that on to my family.

A good write...rap...rant, my friend.
