if our country's leaders were required to be present during great battles as they did in ancient times, i am quite sure they would learn diplomacy real fast out of fear of losing their own lives.

i sense the sarcastic irony of your very well done senryu ...that is one of the things that give them power ...my thoughts inspired however is that it simply is not that simple ...so much involved in human kind, living together different, and when or even does one use violence vs the ultimate sacrifice that truly loves those that hate ones' selves ...to the point of dying for it ... like the example of Jesus Christ recorded in the Bible ;) we can be pretty evil people can't we :((((((((((((((((((((((((((((

Bullies are seldom diplomatic, but they usually come to the same end. The trouble is turning swords into plowshares as Isaiah's quote suggests only works if you read, understand, and desire change. Despots and tyrants are not of that ilk. They do not care if they destroy their own people as long as they get rich & powerful.

I seem to have developed a cynic's outlook...nah...always had it.
