Ignored

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Is anybody listening...

"

Ignored

If no one listens

To what you might have to say

Your value is lost

Exactly, nicely said. On this site I can pick those who dislike my writings or maybe dislike me, just by the writer's body language from reading heaps of theirs and they politely thanking me for reviewing, but not one review from them in return. lol It speaks volumes to me, a complete give away on where I stand lol. I enjoyed this and i keep reviewing those who despise me for they are good writers lol.

this really captures the direction society has taken, the idea that everything has to be given worth and value by other people which dictates people's lives especially online where judgement is at the forefront of it all
ignorance from others may result in hurt but it does not devalue the person and what they might have to say, although the idea that value can come from within is truly lost at this moment in time and this captures that attitude simply and powerfully

Many thanks for you insightful comments my friend - :-)
very true Phil, i can relate to that.
even if you speak your mind, people (family & friends) can't hardly wait for you to shut-up so they can interject with their own thoughts & opinions. people are really only interested in what they want to say. have you noticed this doesn't happen with strangers.

When we are faced with such indifference to our words, our person, it shows great contempt for each other's humanity. One of the great sins of the world. Phill, I see you have chosen to deal with some very difficult subjects. May wisdom shine down on you as you do so.
Regards,
Tom

Being ignored is unpleasant. When I was little, it was still very much a case of children should be seen and not heard. Even back then I had much to say but felt that sting, nowadays it's like water off a duck's back, it doesn't bother me as much. Brevity which can initiate a debate. Well done Phill.

I do agree. If your opinion means little to others. We will say less. A lot said my friend in the short poetry.

Very often the loss is theirs, and sadly so.

i have been very tempted to remark on that, but manage to hold my tongue :(
Ignored: the loss always belongs to those who fail to see you. The good news is it doesn't make you less but it will give you plenty of time to find a true connection.

i totally agree with this sentiment...i think sometimes in childhood we may feel this way.
Alas, we feel we have nothing to contribute that is worthwhile...and unfortunately that feeling can stick with us to adulthood, and make us feel shy about speaking up, even then.

Cheers Ken - you hit the nail on the head - :-)
Specially when it came from those whom we love, it hurts so much when You feel ignored by them, our words are everything to us poets, and when we don't hear their echoes inside others, again specially those whom we want them to read, yes one of the worest of feelings... I hope You are not feeling it in any way my friend.
