Fire in an Ice Cube

Fire in an Ice Cube

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Icy challenge...

"

Fire in an Ice Cube

In a high hoarfrost

Frozen fortress

Coolly projecting

Icicle dripped aloofness

You frostily

Lounge pretentiously

In an audience

Of minion admirers

Icy indigo blue

Penetrating eyes

Coldly staring out

From beneath

You’re hooded

Vestmental whites

Doesn’t even begin

To fool me

Behind ice block

Camouflage walls

You believe

Your secrets are safe

But I found

Your inner kiln of desire

A fire in an ice cube

Burning bright

My heart’s craving

Melting mission

Is to break down

Your snowy shield

With warm whisper

Perfervid words

And have you puddle

Into submission

Under mutual

Aurora borealis skies

Fusing souls

Can turn bare icescape

Into passion pastures

Of torrid love

Where expectations

Can be ignited

Powerful imagery throughout this! Love the feel and flow of the whole piece but these lines stood out to me:
"You frostily
Lounge pretentiously
In an audience
Of minion admirers"

"And have you puddle
Into submission" -- especially love the imagery here. 'Puddle' was a great word choice, over something more 'obvious' like 'melt'.

Mhhh... indeed. breaking down the walls can be a difficult thing to accomplish; and of course you never really know whether it was worth all the effort until the ice melts.

Really enjoyed this poem, great use of our language and the aloofness versus the desire portrayed is very powerful.

Beccy.
