Sam ‘n’ Ella’s Cafe

Sam ‘n’ Ella’s Cafe

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Just a bit of fun ... :-)

"

Sam ‘n’ Ella’s Cafe

A local neighbourhood committee

Sent cruel complaint letters around

To remove a vivid pulsating neon sign

And take ‘Sam ‘n’ Ella’s Cafe’ down

As promoting a bacterial disease

That affects the intestinal tract

Was distasteful in their town centre

And may give visitors a panic attack

The menu was also harshly targeted

Green colour added to scrambled eggs

And described as snot on burnt toast

Served with thin pasta daddy-long-legs

Looking closely at their drink listings

It was incredible believing was there

A cocktail mix named pig sty broth

A milkshake of dark cocoa and pear

But this was a student’s hangout

And they loved the quirky place

Most had parents on the council

So said petitioners lost their case

Is this the other or festive side of Mr. O'fee?!

Trust the students to find such a place - a postcripted rocky horror touch perhaps?! It made me cringe and laugh at same time.. it's horribly graphic but cleverly put. However, not sure about those two in the Author's Nte, however - it's too near breakfast!

Quite a fun read, especially with the information in the final stanza, and I loved the imagery you generated, "A milkshake of dark cocoa and pear", "A cocktail mix named pig sty broth", "thin pasta daddy-long-legs", all so effective and fresh.

Nicely done, and all the best,

Lanny

I may come back to this and embellish .. thank you for the review my friend … :-)
I'm on the fence about whether to tag this fiction or non!!?!?? I swear it's told so realistically, I actually believe it. But your author's note tipped me off the farce with those wild-a*s names! Gotta love creative names that are purplish! *wink! wink!* This is such a great snippet of a story, it kinda deserves to be expanded with a little more outlandishness. SHOW me how those students loved the place (with a few well-placed anecdotes) instead of telling me! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Read request me so I don't miss the update! I've been sketchy lately!
Sounds like the kind of place I would have wandered into in my youth...(maybe even now). Doesn't it seem that as we get older there are those whose sense of humour has dried up like a prune. Of course they may not have had one to begin with. Party on, Phil.

I should think that the petitioners got their just desserts. Pun intended!

This was cute/lighthearted while slightly eerie in its own way. Very enjoyable!
