Before it’s Too Late

Before it’s Too Late

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Regrets can hurt ….

"

Before it’s Too Late

Over my unfilled glass’s rim

A blurred world drearily hums

In a kaleidoscope of nonsense

Stagnant conversations bouncing

Off tight finger plugged ears

Block gossiping forked tongues

Loose careless attitudes abound

So must evade poisoned shrapnel

As last encounter scars still show

Heart requires faultless breastplate

To protect against unclean notions

From targeted onslaught temptations

Must imbibe from my bottle of sanity

And purge this toxin from my veins

Before unrighteousness steals my soul

Back from the brink of dark abyss

I pull and stretch my common-sense

To right all past wrongs I’ve made

Seems so many slings and arrows sting your mind here. Whatever you/we do, there are always people ready to besmirch (what an old-fashioned word!) situations and sensibilities. Mean-ness scars but rememberm it inevitably comes from other people's ignorance. As always, your words are finely laid.

Conremplative, eloquent confessional style poetry. Each verse abounds with painful metaphor and imagery. Mortal wounds. Reminiscent of Plath and the Beat poets. I welcome you back from the shared abyss my friend. I’m sure your wrongs are very few. The world turns...poets suffer...and hope to rise again. Excellent poem.

Great offering very thoughtful. We need to check ourselves often - all the rubbish can steal your peace in the blink of an eye. Powerful closing words. Many mahalo.

It sounds like even though you seem to be forewarning others you also seem to be warning yourself of all the same dangers as well.. Thanks for sharing

Giving yourself a little talking to here, to make sure you don't fall into that abyss and you walk away from the brink of it. Nicely done.

What is called the world is full of negative vibrations. If we allow it, we will be overwhelmed. Good observations here.

And that is why it is such a monster. Fighting the urge to resist is so hard to look past. It can be done, but it’s probably at the cost of your sanity. Nice piece! Love it!

Wow Phill, this is a beauty. Pulls no punches, and a lovely dramatic ending. That really brings it all home.
