The Horse and Jockey

The Horse and Jockey

A Poem by Phillip Wolke
"

What awaits at the end of the race?

"

They wear the honor of all,

Jockeys and horses stand tall in waiting.

Who will first fall,

Who will stand tall anticipating.

Flowers are dawned on the successful

Mauling down the tracks full of a life in waiting.

The next race has all bets down.

The next one is my triple crown and anticipating.

The next time they call,

That time I'll be there waiting in anticipation.

The history has told his story in full,

The farm sits there calling,

waiting with anticipation.
