Take My Hand, I'll Lead Thee OnA Poem by AventicusA thing I must remind myself of daily.
Take my hand, I'll lead thee on
I'll lead you from this world To a place where you truly belong That no evil can unfurl Follow me, and I'll guide you home From all your pain and strife With me, you'll never be alone With me, you'll have a better life Do not cry, my lovely child Do not shed such tears of woe I am here to make you smile And bring great joy to your soul Though the darkness grasp at your heart And seek to drive you astray I promise I shall play my part And keep you on the right way You will face many trials That seek to grieve you deeply For you shall walk many miles Your journey will not be easy Many losses you shall face Many sorrows you will have This is a long and treacherous race With strivings to make any go mad Yet, I encourage you to stay strong And not fall off the road This life may be wrought with wrong But, there is a hope to you I must show A covenant I make with thee A strong, unbreakable bond That with me, you'll find peace So take my hand, I'll lead thee on
