When Darkness Spoke
It gave birth to a beast The whole earth it shook All life it took And on all joy it did feast All human will it broke The world was ravaged by its fearsome claws All nations it did destroy Great brutality did it employ And all human glory was crushed in its jaws When Darkness Spoke The world into shadow fell Everyone was blind and stumbling For a glimpse of light they were fumbling And all felt they were in hell Anything bright the shadow did choke There was nothing they could follow All certainty was taken All bravery was shaken And indeed humanity felt quite hollow When Darkness Spoke It whispered into humanity's ear It told them things seemingly sweet Things which would be humanity's defeat And of consequences humans had no fear Humanity felt free of any yoke They acted in such vile ways The world being theirs for consumption Falling ever deeper into corruption They unwary of the price they must pay All this came to pass When Darkness Spoke
