The State of HumaityA Poem by AventicusI wrote this in couplets. This is a poem meant to reveal the baseness of humanity. I want you to read this and from it become introspective upon yourself. I want you to meditate on it this poem.I live in a world of extreme confusion Of self-interest, discrimination, and hopeless delusion Yet this as it seems is a world that they love That there is nothing better, not even God above They make it pertain to the absolutes of themselves And then place their theories on the highest of shelves Forcing those who wish for sight to believe without knowing So they ignorantly continue down a river of lies, a-rowing The cycle is endless, the illusion stubborn held Happiness is something to themselves they cannot weld They deny what rebukes them, and they know what they deny And continue their life riding on an immoral high Those who believe they are right attempt to find What truth they say gives sight to those who are blind Though these are just as fooled as the rest Goodwill and warm feelings are their tools, not a test What they desire is more people, more minions to the cause They attempt to treat a wound that needs more than just gauze This truth of theirs is no more then insincere talk Many are placed in it and find great holes in their walk There is no wish for a real understanding Those who cross lines receive a reprimanding But that never happens, because what they have is too dear So they instill in their followers a subliminal fear That answering certain questions or asking certain ones Would be considered too far, and make them undone And here I sit, watching us all Wondering why we stopped short of truth, and took the great fall When they first looked at the gap of the bottomless abyss Did they think they could jump in and find true bliss? When across the gap, right before their eyes was a light That truly could have provided ease to their mortal plight Did they think they could use the light across that they saw To lure those into a pit of ice that does not thaw To distort their beliefs and freeze further thought To make sure they do and say what they ought Well, congratulations you fiends, you have succeeded And any further mental progress impeded You have tripped those who could have been great And have given them a destiny that was not fate's And as for you, deceivers of all, who pray on those most naïve You who pester, push, and bear down without reprieve You would brutally trick with great delight A great mass of fools who do not know what to fight And once you have them in your enslaving grasp You bite into them with venom more potent than an asp Then the venom courses through their hearts and minds And they begin to believe that all other thoughts are what bind They become more seduced into this way And think that all others with their lives must pay If they refuse the deceiver's lies They cry “This man must surely die “For he is not one of us “And wishes against it with great fuss “So we must now give him great strife “For we must surely end his life” And off they go with that man To have his life ended at the executioner's hand And here I sit, watching us all Wondering why we stopped short of truth, and took the great fall Ah, you, you thought I had left you out You hypocrites, oh so vile, who flaunt about I bet you hear my words and think “who, me?” Yes, you, there is no one else it could possibly be And there you sit, wearing your mask Appearing popular is no small task You chameleon, you liar, you selfish brat Who thinks him or herself to be all that Simply because you can change your face And change it to suit the needs of a different social race You who would say you are better than a liar, than a thief Better than an adulterer, than a bringer of grief Better than a slanderer or an idol worshiping fool My friend, you are indeed quite the ignorant tool Upon the sinner you would shout shame and scorn And then upon yourself the same sin adorn For the sake of your image, for the sake of your fame For the desire to stay great and join the new game You would slander your friends and those you hold dear So that your image is kept and losing it you would not fear You have deceived yourself immensely, and therefore abstain From any form of introspection to see the sin you contain And yes, you, hiding in far in the back The coward who thinks “I shall be free from attack “If do not search for conflict, agree with everyone I see “If I let others do the work, and avoid paying the fee.” Hide is what you do, you even duck from the ocean spray So long as hiding helps you live another day Self preservation is your greatest desire Therefore you flee from situations that may seem dire And leave those who would suffer great pain In order so that in good health you will remain The tyrant would conquer, bring suffering to all And you would seek shadow and never stand tall Against that which is wrong and brings great destruction You do not care if the number of your friends enters reduction In your hole, forever you would stay Until the whole of creation succumbs to decay And here I sit, watching us all Wondering why we stopped short of truth, and took the great fall And you, oh man of ignorance be Would quickly ignore all philosophy You would prefer to turn your head from all this So that you can remain in your state of foolish bliss To all arguments you pay no attention For your foolishness would be interrupted by dissension Yet you still strive to put in your opinion And all talk you are engaged in must be your dominion You gladly present your own form of correction Though your search for knowledge is subjected to rejection The gaining of true knowledge would be your undoing And that day would be the day of your great ruing For you would see the great pain and strife in this world of ours The discord and discrimination displayed before you like fading flowers Your barrier of foolishness would be shattered easier than glass So you remain in your ignorance till you wither like the grass Now you, and finally you, oh greatest sinners of mankind Your souls readily away to hell you have signed The betrayers of man and God, the Devil's true b******s You who would cut off the hands of your benevolent master You who would slit the throat of your very brother You who would burn the living body of your mother You who take advantage of your sister You whose soul doth greatly blister You who would throw off a ledge your own father All these sins to your soul are no bother You would willingly do evil against your friend And see that he meets a vile and gruesome end You who would spit in the face of your very God And then attempt to dismiss him with a foundationless facade You who would put out the fire of a rebellion most right And leave the rebels in the hand of a ruthless night You who would tear down the walls of your own nation And usher in a violent and destructive infestation The world and the life that lives upon it is yours You enslave what you wish and decimate what you abhor Most corrupt of the corrupt, your will would doth send The destruction of the ages and bring all life but yours to an end What matters is you, you are the culmination of the rest Bound by pride and selfishness, what opposes you, you detest There is nothing that would stop you, if given the chance Every sin you would use to build up your broken stance And here I sit, watching us all Wondering why we stopped short of truth, and took the great fall Though, the answer now to me has been found We are human and sin strongly to us is bound It's strange how we speak of freedom when all we do is sin We seem to have forgotten or dismissed the state we are truly in A state of depravity, one we all know too well One that shames us directly to the place of suffering called hell And so we act out of fear utilizing what we say we despise To hopefully avoid our inevitable, unexpected, and untimely demise Yet, sadly and unsurprisingly we have all failed Our selfishness prevents us from seeing past our own veils So we continue in the state we are in Desiring to survive by adorning each spoken of sin We have decided our fate and forgotten where we must go Though this is a knowledge none of us wish to know To be shown we are fallen and cannot attain our own salvation But for this we must look to maker of life and creation And here I sit, still watching us fall But thanking God for saving the few of us from death that takes all Once we were alive, but now we are dead and no more Some are dragged to hell, but some to heaven soar © 2015 AventicusAuthor's Note
