A Change of Pace

A Change of Pace

A Poem by C. Michael Kirre
"

A little poem about the turmoil of heartbreak, but mostly an experiment in the visual presentation of a poem.

"

I find myself here again

Digging deep inside

To find a shred of hope

The courage so needed

The fire has died down again

You left me here

Broken and empty

This is the low point

I sit myself down on the couch

Where we once sat together

I look towards the TV

And stare somewhere beyond the wall

You were never mean

But we never really connected

I sometimes didn’t speak my mind

And we drifted apart

The remote falls to the ground

The bang shakes me back to reality

For a second there I forget about you

I’ve been here before

I think I know what to do ...

F**k this! I yell to the room and the world in general.

I’m going outside into the sunshine to be happy if you need me!

But

somehow

the sun

would shine brighter

if you were here

The stepping down words is really really good. It makes it really good fun to read.
