a situation

A Poem by Phibby Venable
"

a word usage challenge by hfu

"

There by the swings, a young child running loose
and shouting out to Mother his excuse
"I want to use the bathroom where I choose!"
A peddler shuffled by with his produce
in old gray clothes and holes I hailed by two
located in the tatter of his shoes.
He often thought himself an old recluse
but had a living that he had to make
and so he thought to introduce himself
both to the mother and the angry child
He had a thought, one might call it a muse
to have a conversation, take a schmooze
and so the situation help defuse.
The mother gave her chartreuse hair a toss
too hostile to give the peddler's words a thought.
"I don't want to confuse or cause a scene,"
or be obtuse with you or his enthuse
to use the bathroom any place he chooses",
The peddler saw the mother flat refuse
to listen or to even look his way.
Which was enough to make the peddler lose it!
"Reduce your arrogance, " he said, "seduce your mind!"
For God's sake give the kid a moment's time.
He is suffuse and thus he needs to know
that bushes make a hidden place to go."
And when she still ignored him as an ant
And while the boy squealed and held his pants
The peddler took his time to demonstate
by wetting down the grass close where she sat.
