ocean woman

ocean woman

A Poem by Phibby Venable

Sail is the whiteness in her wavering heart
Her hair a topaz that the sun adores
aglow in highlights, knighted mellowed gold
her roots sink deeply in her darkened soul

Whoever likes may ride her high or deep
The birds swoop to her lips and eat their fill
A brilliant rush of shells glide through her hair
She hides Atlantis, secret, buried low

She is enraptured with the color blue,
blue green, turquoise, blues of metaled gray
She visits as the tides turn her to move
and exits with a crash and brassy wave

Quite a taste is left within...

Well said Phibby - well said.

What a free spirit she must have... what a beautifully inspiring poem.

I would agree with the prior review; it is, of course, first-class Venablese, but there is a more lyrical feel to the piece than most of your other work. The constant reference to colors highlights the visual nature of the piece; top-shelf stuff.

Phibby Venable,

Entwined within the walls of this screen, I read these words - so descriptive in nature and flow.

Picturesque and harmonic the feeling - You can sense the waves crash (visit) the seashells and the rooting in the dark soul. Simply beautiful words {feeling} the page.

Great job, I enjoyed your poem, thank you for sharing.

Keep Writing,

Legacy

This would be a perfect write to enter into Poetic Infusion Sociey's contest Love.

The reminds me of a song by John Denvor called Calipso. It is a draw between what is and what should be. I love the image about the hair and the seabirds getting their fill. Great Job
