outlasting winter

outlasting winter

A Poem by Phibby Venable

Let the Kokopelli trees bend
and blow their fluted limbs
into their tangled feet, where I will sit -
A heavy leaf clinging in the autumn wind.
I am outlasting the winter blizzard,
still tangible on the sleeves of trees.
I must maintain toward a spring breeze.
and only give way when the sun opens
a yellow carrousel above my head
where my hair explodes in wild stands
dancing with the warm wind, hand in hand.

If you were a painter, you would definitly be an expressionist. Crisp, bold, colorful yet precise.

perfection, the sort of thing I wish I could write :)

There is just the hint of Pound in here...it's briefer than the normal run of your work, and a bit more ethereal, but it's all Venablese all right, and it is some damn fine writing.

Even when we get help through desperate time we still grow and become stronger because we admit we can't do it alone. another wonderful poem full of hope.
