the three elements of this poem, the geese, the solitary beat, the ice trees combine to give that flash of a single metaphor above in the sky. I like this kind of poem alot

I'm jealous of your haiku abilities. It can be so limiting sometimes, but you really paint a subtle, but vivid picture. Winter is very mysterious, and the "solitary geese" add a bleak tone, and you reach that mood with hardly any words. That's what writing is about.
